FAIR Seminar on Marine Insurance

The negative impacts of the financial crisis on the real economy and on the world seaborne trade, the effects of piracy risks, the volatile nature of modern shipping and the latest developments in regulations and clauses necessitate coming together to study these changes, to exchange experiences and to face the challenges of the time successfully.

In this context, Korea National Insurance Corporation of D.P.R. Korea offered to organize FAIR Seminar on "Marine Insurance & Reinsurance; the Challenges of the Time" from 6^th to 9^th June 2010 in Pyongyang. The invitation has been well received and eminent speakers agreed to tackle the smartly chosen topics including the following:

• Marine cargo underwriting (risk assessment & rating)

• Marine cargo - claim’s handling & adjustment

• Containerization - the impact on loss prevention & control

• Marine cargo claims - documentation bill of lading & multimodal + transportation document

• The impact of piracy and the extended definition of terrorism. The revisions to the change of voyage

• clause & phantom ship problem

• Role of international community, governments and ship owners to control piracy risks problems.

• New trends in the reinsurance market

• The growing role of classification societies for risk management & loss prevention

• Marine & inland transport in Afro-Asian countries challenges & opportunities

We shall appreciate completing the Registration Form and sending it to the Organizing Committee in Pyongyang & a copy to the FAIR Central Office in Cairo.
